New Delhi: American billionaire George Soros has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of promoting crony capitalism. Soros has claimed that he has cordial relations with Indian industrialist Gautam Adani. He alleged that 'Modi and Adani are close allies and their fate is also linked.' The American billionaire was speaking at an event at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) ahead of the Munich Security Conference in Germany on Thursday (February 16).
He further said, 'Adani Enterprises tried to raise money in the stock market, but failed. Adani is accused of stock manipulation. Their stock has collapsed like a sandcastle.' Along with this, Soros accused PM Modi of being involved in the alleged manipulation of the Adani group. He said, 'Modi is silent on this matter. But, he will have to answer questions from foreign investors and in Parliament. This statement of the American billionaire came about 3 weeks after the 3200-page report of Hindenburg Research, in which allegations like stock manipulation were leveled against the Adani group. In a 413-page reply, the Adani group called Hindenburg's allegations false and baseless. This report was termed as a planned attack on India, its companies, and the development of the country.'
Smriti Irani hit back at George Soros:-
Union Minister Smriti Irani has hit back at the remarks made by Soros on PM Modi. Irani has said that efforts are being made to shake the Indian democratic structure from foreign soil. George Soros is trying to interfere in India's democracy and PM Modi is his target. Today, the people of the country should appeal as a citizen and respond to this foreign power. Smriti Irani lashed out at George Soros, saying the man who broke the Bank of England, a man who has been designated as an economic war criminal, has now announced the break of Indian democracy.
Irani said that Soros has announced that he will make PM Modi the main point of his attack. He has announced that he will create such a system in India under his foreign power, which will protect his interests, not India. The Union Minister said that today, as a citizen, I want to appeal to the people of the country that there is a foreign power at the center of which is a man named George Soros. They have declared that they will attack the democratic structure of India. Irani has said that today we should reply to George Soros in one voice that in democratic circumstances, the democratically elected government and our PM will not bow down before such wrong intentions. We have defeated foreign forces before and will defeat them in the future as well.
George Soros has been a staunch opponent of nationalism:-
Let us tell you that in 2020, American billionaire of Hungarian origin George Soros announced to give $100 million to start a global university. Soros said that this university would be established to "fight the nationalists". Soros called "totalitarian governments" and climate change an existential threat. Hitting out at international leaders, Soros said that the world's strongest powers—the US, China, and Russia—are in the hands of dictators and power-hungry rulers are on the rise. At the same time, Soros also claimed that the "biggest and worst shock" was in India. Soros accused PM Narendra Modi of "turning India into a Hindu nation".
The American billionaire had said, 'Nationalism, which has now gone too far. The biggest and most frightening blow has been to India because their democratically elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making India a Hindu nationalist country.' Soros accused PM Modi of being tough on Kashmir, a semi-autonomous Muslim region, and threatening to strip millions of citizens of their citizenship. Let us tell you that, earlier, investigative journalist Vijay Patel claimed that the strings of anti-India George Soros are also connected to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation created by Sonia Gandhi.
