It's only just been three days into the New Year and everyone enjoying the cold breeze and browsing through all the  selfies clicked on New Years.  After partying a lot to welcome 2019 it's time to move forward to have a good time for the first festival of the year.

Worth mention here Makar Sankranti in Gujarat, Lohri in Punjab and Pongal in Tamil Nadu, the harvest festivals are around the corner.

Makar Sankranti is celebrated by a pooja where flying kites have more limelight engaging in delicacies including Til Ke Ladoo and dancing around the bonfire also included.

Apart from all the high spirits and fervor of the new year, here we are  sharing the three important dates and festivals that are celebrated across the nation. The names of the events may be different, but the harvest festival being celebrated is filled with bundle of hopes, joy and happiness.

January 13 – Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti

January 14 – Bhogi/ Sankranti

January 15 – Celebrated as Pongal, Lohri, Bihu, Hadaga and Poki

The celebrations start a few days before the core festival with purchasing new clothes, re-decorating our homes and gifting our family, friends and preparing for a lavish meal.
