Hyderabad city development is a high turn. Now the state government has given administrative approval to greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for Rs 298.34 crore to undertake 472 canal works across Hyderabad. Mi and UD Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar issued orders here on Wednesday.

However, MA and UD Minister K T Rama Rao directed the GHMC at a recent review meeting to start the capping and repair work on open nalas to avoid untoward incidents during the monsoon. The GHMC commissioner has been instructed to prepare an action plan to complete the work on time.

GHMC officials are also active in the development process and work. Now GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar has submitted a proposal to lay/repair/cover about 472 cyclone water canals in Hyderabad at a cost of Rs.298.34 crore. Keeping in mind the harsh financial position of the GHMC, the Commissioner requested the state government to grant administrative approval by allocating special funds to the civic body.
