The Filmmakers Sanjay Leela Bhansali's still most awaited in five states of India and controversial movie Padmaavat has been creating waves, ever since the team started shooting. The film was mercilessly targeted by several fringe groups, like the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, who alleged it was a distortion of history. However, all the raging controversy seems to have done some good publicity for the film.

Padmaavat, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, released on January 25, and has been unstoppable at the box-office ever since. It is now all set to cross Rs 150 crore within its first week itself. The film is based on the epic poem of the same title, written by Malik Muhammad Jayasi in the 16th century. It tells the tale of the beautiful Rani Padmini of Chittor, who committed jauhar, to avoid falling into the clutches of Turkish invader, Alauddin Khilji.

The craze surrounding the film has spread to international territories as well. In California, San Francisco Bay families bought a whole show of the theatre, to see Padmaavat. There was even a dress code! In a video, shared by trade analyst Komal Nahta, we can see people, dressed as Rani Padmini, dancing merrily to the Ghoomar song from the film.

Not just this, Ghoomar was played during an NBA (National Basketball Association) basketball match, between the teams Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat, in the United States of America, on January 28. Cheerleaders were seen dancing to the song. Ironically, the Karni Sena was dead set against the song Ghoomar, as they believed it demeaned the honour of Rani Padmini. They were furious, as Deepika's mid-riff was exposed during the sequence. After much angst, death threats, and name-calling, Deepika's mid-riff was covered, thanks to VFX effects.
