Srinagar: The churning over the new state president of the Congress, which is battling factionalism in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, continues. Party general secretary KC Venugopal had held a meeting with state leaders for two consecutive days on Tuesday and Wednesday. Even after that, no decision has been made in this regard. Some names were suggested by Venugopal, but they could not be agreed upon. However, most of the people present in the meeting put forward the name of Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is said to be the leader of the G-23. Even though Ghulam Nabi Azad's relationship with the top leadership is not the same as before, the state leaders said that it is the same leaders who can end factionalism in the party.

However, Ghulam Nabi Azad himself did not say anything in this congress meeting and quietly listened to everyone. Jammu and Kashmir Congress unit president Ghulam Ahmad Mir resigned from his post last week and since then the search for a new president has been going on. Azad's relations with Ghulam Ahmad Mir were not good enough and many of his trusted leaders resigned from their posts in protest against Mir. In such a situation, it is believed that this time the top leadership of the Congress can give a free hand to Ghulam Nabi Azad himself to take decisions in Jammu and Kashmir. Ambika Soni and Rajni Patil were also present at the crucial meeting.

The first name proposed in the meeting was Vikar Rasool Wani. However, many people carried strong objections to it. Apart from this, the names of three leaders Pirzada Sayyed, Ghulam Mohammad Saruri, and Tariq Hameed Karra were also taken, but none could be agreed upon. Meanwhile, KC Venugopal said that the discussion that Vikar Wani's name is already under consideration is wrong. No decision will be taken without your consent and opinion.
