Srinagar: Ghulam Nabi Azad, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, will be holding a news conference on Monday to introduce his new political party, a month after severing relations with the Congress.

Commenting on his new political organization, Azad said, "I will conduct a press conference on Monday." He met with his leaders and employees on Sunday.

Before leaving Congress, Azad declared the formation of his own political organisation with the goal of restoring full statehood in his first public speech in Jammu. He had said that the party's name and flag would be chosen by the residents of Jammu & Kashmir.

"I still haven't decided a name for my party. The party's name and flag will be decided by the people of J-K. My party will have a Hindustani name that everyone can understand "After ending his five-decade affiliation with the grand old party, he stated at the event.

He went on to say, "My party will emphasise the restoration of complete sovereignty, the right to land, and employment to native residents." In light of the upcoming assembly elections, Azad said that the first branch of his political organisation would be established in Jammu & Kashmir. "My party's priorities will be the restoration of complete sovereignty, the right to land, and employment to native residents," he said.

He slammed Congress and claimed that attempts to discredit him and his supporters who defected from the party had been confined to internet tweets. Azad also criticised the party, saying "We created Congress with our own blood, not with computers or Twitter. People are trying to discredit us, but they can only do so through computers and Twitter. Congress is not present on the ground for this reason." He held  his first public meeting at Sainik Colony in Jammu.
Azad made fun of Congress by claiming that members of the party now enter jail in buses, phone the DGP or commissioners, have their names taken down, and exit the facility within an hour. Congress has been unable to expand as a result of this. Azad left the post of all parties last week. Notably, from 2005 to 2008, he served as Chief Minister of J-K.

He specifically called out Rahul Gandhi in his resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi for the manner the party has been governed for the previous almost nine years. He  alleged in the frank five-page letter that Rahul Gandhi, or worse, his security guards and personal assistants, make all significant party decisions while Sonia Gandhi serves only as "a nominal leader."

Azad had said that he was ending his 50-year relationship with the Congress and tendered his resignation with "deep grief and a terribly leaden heart." Before, he served as the opposition leader in the Rajya Sabha. He had said that the situation in the party has reached a "point of no return" while recalling his lengthy affiliation with the Congress.
