Trichy: Trichy Corporation will organize vaccination camps at 126 places on Sunday. Vaccines will be given gifts through a lottery system. Officials said that all the centers will have both Covishield and Covaxin depending on the requirement of the public. The gifts will be silk sarees and android mobile phones etc.

Some of the centers where vaccination will be done include Renga School in Raghavendrapuram, Srimad Andavan College in Thiruvanaikoil, Gandhi Market, Nadharshah Darga, EB Road Corporation School, Periyar Maniyammai Complex in KK Nagar, Sewa Sangam School in Cantonment, Central Bus Stand. Bishop Heber College at Vayalur Road, KAP School at Thillai Nagar and SIT College at Ariyamangalam.

According to the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 34,403 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, which is 12.5 per cent higher than yesterday. Active cases account for 1.02 per cent (3,33,47,325) of the total cases in the country since the start of the pandemic. In the last 24 hours, 17,681 new Covid cases were reported in Kerala, while 3,783 new cases were reported in Maharashtra. While Maharashtra has the highest number of cases, the increase in Kerala has been a cause of national concern.
