New Delhi: Giriraj Singh, a minister in the central government, today said that the budget allocated by the Modi government for the agriculture sector from 2014 to 2020 is 438 per cent higher than the Congress-led UPA government. Giriraj has alleged that the leftist and crumbling gangs are denigrating the achievements of the Modi government in agriculture.

It is noteworthy that the Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy was answering the questions asked in a press conference. He has said that I want to discuss the budget allocation in the agriculture sector. A budget of Rs 88,811 crore was allocated for the agriculture sector between 2009 and 2014, which was increased to Rs 4,87,238 crore between 2014 and 2020 which is 438 per cent higher. He has alleged that the leftist and piecemeal gangs are trying to malign the achievements of the Modi government in the agriculture sector.

Giving further information, the Union Minister said that in 2013-14, agricultural credit was Rs seven lakh crore, which has increased to Rs 16.5 lakh crore during FY 2021-22. This is an increase of 135 percent. He has said that through direct transfer (DBT), a benefit of six-six thousand rupees has been given in the account of 106 lakh farmers of the country.
