In the middle of the fourth phase of the lockdown, Girish Chandra Murmu, Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir visited Udhampur district of Jammu division. He was also accompanied by his wife, Dr. Samita Murmu. The Lieutenant Governor reviewed the arrangements made for the return of the people who were returning to the state by rail at the railway station. Commissioner Secretary Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, who was appointed nodal officer to arrange homecoming from other states, told the visiting Lieutenant Governor that about 60 thousand workers and other people from other states in Udhampur will return to the state by Shramik Express trains. On an average one thousand workers and people are returning from every train.

On this occasion, DC Piyush Singla of Udhampur told the Lieutenant Governor that people coming by train are registered online as soon as they get off the train through Transit Management Information App. After this, people of different districts are dispatched through buses based on real-time data. They are also given food packets and water before leaving.

While taking stock of the preparations and procedures being adopted for the people coming to the railway station, the Lt. Governor expressed satisfaction over the standard operating procedure (SOP) being adopted. He insisted on thermal screening of passengers coming to find corona positive patients. The importance of proper disposal according to the prescribed protocol of PPE kits is also stated.
