New Delhi: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly attacked with acid by two individuals on Wednesday morning in the Dwarka, Mohan Garden Police Station area of Delhi. She has now been brought to a hospital for treatment, the police said.
According to the police, one of the suspects has been apprehended, and more investigation is being carried out to ascertain the truth and the involvement of another person.
At around 9 am, the police received a PCR call reporting an incident where a girl had been attacked with acid near the Mohan Garden Police Station.
It was said that a 17-year-old girl was allegedly attacked using some acid-like substance by two persons on a bike around 7.30 am in the morning, Police informed.
The incident took place while the girl and her sibling were together. She has sparked suspicions about two people who are familiar to them. The investigation on this matter is underway, Police said.
Reacting to the incident Delhi Commission for Women, Chairperson, Swati Maliwal tweeted: “In the Country’s capital, two miscreants threw acid on a girl in broad daylight and ran away. Is anyone afraid of the law? Why is acid not banned?
“Acid was thrown on a girl near Dwarka Mor. Our team is coming to the hospital to help the victim. We will get justice for the daughter. The Delhi Commission for Women has been fighting for years to prohibit acid in the country. When will the governments wake up?” Maliwal tweeted.
