A special team of the Women's Protection Wing of Telangana Police on Friday rescued a girl from Chikkadapalli in Hyderabad and shifted her to Sakhi Centre. The 17-year-old girl had reportedly gone missing from West Bengal four months ago. A case of human trafficking has been registered in West Bengal. The accused Parmanik was taken into custody and handed over to the anti-human trafficking team of West Bengal which was in Hyderabad.
Additional Director General of Police (Women's Security Wing) Swati Lakra said the accused was nabbed with a call detail record (CDR). Police said the matter is pending in West Bengal's Khankul police station where the girl's parents had lodged a complaint. Similarly, the Excise officials made a big success on Saturday when, during the inspection of vehicles at three places in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, drugs worth Rs 2 crore were seized.
The officials also arrested three people - Pawan, Mahender Reddy and Ramakrishna Goud, while two others who are said to be prime accused in the case - SK Reddy and Hanumantha Reddy absconded. According to officials, the accused Pawan was carrying mephedrone drug in a car and was caught at Kukatpally. Based on the information given by Pawan, the officials raided the house of Mahendra Reddy in Medchal and the house of another person in Nagarkurnool. A total of 4.92 kg of narcotic substances and a car have been seized from them. The drug was meant to supply students in the city, it is learned.
