USA: Millions of Gmail users experienced a significant outage late on Saturday due to a technical issue that also affected Google's popular email platform, according to reports.

Users of the desktop and mobile versions appear to be affected by the outage in several countries, including India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Japan.

Gmail users in India started reporting problems around 7:00 p.m. ET. on Saturday, and outage reports peaked around 8:20 p.m., according to outage-tracking platform DownDetector.

Most of the problems reported by Indian users are related to email delivery (84%), server connection (9%), and website access (7%).

However, users from other nations also reported problems signing in and sending emails.

According to Downdetector's outage heat map, most Indian users who reported problems with Google's email service are concentrated in cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Nagpur.

Many users around the world took to social media to complain about the unresponsive Gmail app as well as their frustration with undelivered emails.

However, the cause of this service disruption is still unknown. These reports of service interruptions have yet to receive acknowledgment from Google or Gmail (at the time of writing).
