Guntur: Mayor Kavathi Shiv Naga Manohar Naidu held a review meeting with city planner Hima Bindu at Gandhi Park here on Wednesday. He said the reputation of GMC is at stake as some chainmen were involved in corruption. Chenman, he said, used to help city planning officials take measurements of the sites. They allegedly collected bribes and defame GMC.

He said that the GMC dismantled the chainman system and transferred all the chainmen to the encroachment removal squad. He urged people to complain if anyone meets him and claims to be a chainman. He assured that action would be taken against him. He directed all the encroachment removal employees to wear uniform and attend duty within the stipulated time and follow the instructions of the town planning officers.

He urged the people to resolve their petitions and applications related to the Town Planning Department in the Ward Secretariat. He directed the encroachment removal personnel to remove cloth banners and remove encroachments from side drains and to submit daily performance reports. He warned that strict action will be taken against anyone who takes bribe. Deputy Town Planner Madhu Kumar, Assistant Town Planner Shastri, Madhu Babu were present.
