Go Air cancels Delhi flights; Indigo launches Ahmedabad to Shirdi route

Indore: Low-cost carrier Go Air has canceled its flights from the city until February 28, as per to sources info. Although the airline has not issued a statement, airport sources said the airline that operates two flights in the morning and evening to Delhi has been canceling the flights.

Even though airlines have been resuming in stages the flights from the city suspended because of the Covid-19 lockdown, the occupancy rate has remained low. Go Air’s Mumbai-Indore-Kolkata flight also has also been struggling to increase the passenger load. Airport director Aryamma Sanyal said that Go Air has informed about the cancellation of flights until February 28. She has no further information.

Meanwhile, Indigo, the country’s biggest airline by fleet size and revenue, is also facing a passenger shorage for its newly launched flight to the pilgrim city of Shirdi in Maharashtra. The airline is planning to extend the flight to Ahmedabad in a bid to raise the passenger load, .

According to the information received, Indigo is not getting enough passengers for its 72- seater aircraft in the Indore-Shirdi sector. The flight will now operate on the Ahmedabad-Indore-Shirdi sector and Shirdi-Indore-Ahmedabad sector in the return leg. Travel agents say that the distance from Indore to Shirdi is only about 450 km. Although there are no trains connecting the city to Shirdi, people prefer the road. There are more than 50 buses plying daily from the city to Shirdi and Pune every day. Indigo sources say its Hyderabad flights are also under stress because most IT companies in Hyderabad have opted for work from home. Apart from flights to Delhi and Goa, those to other cities are facing load issues.
