All the 10 MLAs will meet BJP President Amit Shah and Executive Chairman Dpi Nadda in Delhi today. Ahead of meeting Amit Shah, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has reached Parliament House with two BJP MLAs.

In his statement, BJP MLA Isidor Fernandes, who joined the BJP, said that we wanted to be part of development. He said the BJP is an inclusive party and the Congress is a divided one where everyone thinks about itself. At around 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, a group of 10 MLAs led by leader of the opposition in the Goa Assembly Chandrakant Babu Kavalkar approached Rajesh Patankar and demanded recognition of him as a separate group from the Congress. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Michael Lobo were also present on the occasion. In this way, the BJP's member strength in the 40-member state assembly has gone up to 27. This is the highest ever bjp's tally in the Goa Assembly. With two-thirds of the MLAs leaving the Congress, the defection laws cannot apply.

According to media reports, Chandrakant Kavalkar said that he has to go to the people in his area. But development is not happening. The Congress had emerged as the largest party in the assembly elections itself. But at that time and even after that, senior party leaders could not succeed in forming a government in the state. So 10 Congress MLAs have decided to form a separate faction to join the BJP.

For your information, the 10 MLAs who left the Congress include leader of the opposition Chandrakant Kevlekar, Etnesio Monserte, Jennifer Monserte, Francis Sylveira, Philip Neri Rodrigues, Cleopacio Dias, Wilfred D. Sa, Neelkanth Halnkar, Antonio Fernandes and Antonio Fernandes. Isidor Fernandes included. With this, the number of Congress MLAs in the Assembly has come down to five. In the last assembly elections, the BJP had won 14 seats and congress 17 in the 40-member Goa Assembly. But despite being the largest party, the Congress could not form a government there. Three Congress MLAs resigned just days after the assembly elections. On the other hand, his Panaji seat was also vacated following the death of former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. The four seats were contested along with the Lok Sabha elections. Three of these seats were won by the BJP and one by the Congress. Thus, the BJP's tally in the House was 17 and the Congress 15. The BJP government also has the support of three independent SPs and three other party MLAs. Which is good for the government.
