Panaji: Former MLA Mahadev Naik of the Goa unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken over the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Naik, who joined the party a year before the assembly elections in the coastal state, said the Arvind Kejriwal-led organization is currently the only people-centric party. Naik Laxmikant Palsekar was handling the Ministry of Industry, Textiles and Jute, Social Welfare, Cooperation, and Handicrafts in the Government and also MLA from Shiroda between 2009 and 2012.

He said on Friday, "At present, you are the only people-centric party in Goa. The party was assisting the people of Goa through its 'Oxymitra' campaign by setting up oxygen testing centers during the global epidemic of coronavirus. Where was the BJP at that time?'' He also said that he was also impressed by AAP's promise of 300 units of free power when it came to power in the elections here next year.

Naik said he was confident that the Aam Aadmi Party would win the assembly elections in the state in 2022. He attended the party at an event in Delhi in the presence of AAP unit Goa convener Rahul Mhambrey, senior Delhi unit leaders Satyendra Jain and Atishi.
