Goa: After getting the first batch of Covishield vaccine on January 13, Goa receives its second batch of vaccine for coronavirus on Wednesday with 18000 vials landing in the state.

A senior health department official said, “A consignment of 18,000 vaccine doses against COVID-19 reached Goa by a flight from Mumbai on Wednesday morning and the immunization drive in the state will resume from Friday”.  The vaccination process began in the state last Saturday at seven centres, including two private hospitals.

Goa Health Services Director Dr Jose D'Souza said the next round of vaccination would be held across the state from Friday onwards. He said the state is adding more facilities, including private hospitals, for the inoculation process.

For the first phase of the vaccination drive, the Goa government has identified five government health facilities, including the apex Goa Medical College, two district hospitals and two others besides three private hospitals -- Manipal Hospital, Victor Apollo hospital and the Healthway Hospital.
