New Delhi: Journalist Tarun Tejpal has been relieved in the rape case. After 8 years, the Sessions Court in Goa has acquitted Tarun Tejpal. Tarun Tejpal, former editor-in-chief of Tehelka magazine, was accused of sexually assaulting a female partner inside the elevator of a luxury hotel in Goa in 2013.
Journalist Tarun Tejpal was accused of sexual abuse by a colleague. The Goa police then registered an FIR against Tarun Tejpal in November 2013. Tarun Tejpal was then arrested. Tarun Tejpal has been out on bail since May 2014. The Goa police had filed a 2846-page chargesheet against him in February 2014.
Journalist Tarun Tej IPC pal was booked under Sections 342 (wrongful prevention), 342 (wrongful imprisonment), 354 (assault with intent to violate dignity or use of criminal force), 354-A (sexual assault), 376 (2) (rape by a person who has a position of authority over a woman) and 376 (2) (rape by a person who can control). But tejpal has finally been acquitted after eight years of trial .
