Thane: Naupara police have arrested a man accused of theft in Thane who stole a donation box from Lord Hanuman's temple this week. What also surprised the police can be seen in the footage CCTV. The criminal is seen touching God's feet before stealing the donation pot from the temple.

According to Naupara police, Mahant Mahavir Das, priest of the Kabirwadi Hanuman Temple near Khopat bus depot, informed them about the incident on Thursday. The complainant said in his statement that the theft took place in the temple between 8 pm and 9:30 pm on Tuesday. The priest went out of the temple at that time for some work and when he returned, the donation box was missing from the front of the statue. Pandit said that there were 1,000 rupees in the donation.
 
The police then examined the footage CCTV installed in the temple. A man is seen coming inside the temple. He also took a photo of the temple from his mobile. Then, he touches God's feet and then quickly goes out with a donation box. The CCTV outside the temple shows him waiting outside the temple. Inspector Sanjay Dhumal of Naupara police station said, "We started an investigation based on the interrogation of persons around the temple. We shared the photos taken from CCTV footage with the locals and it helped in identifying the culprit.''
