Two-time I-League champions Gokulam Kerala FC, who recently dominated strong team ATK Mohun Bagan, is planning a place in the inter-regional semi-finals by registering a win over Majia Sports and Recreation Club in the AFC Cup here on Saturday. Kerala have moved to the top spot in Group D ahead of Basundhara Kings by goal difference with a 4-2 win over local favorites ATK Mohun Bagan. Only the top 2 teams from Group D will qualify for the Inter-Zonal Semi-Finals. The team, coached by Vicenzo Alberto Aeneas, would like to increase their chances by scoring three more points.

After a 0-1 loss to Bangladesh's Basundhara Kings in their opening match, another defeat on Saturday is set to end Majia's hopes. ATK Mohun Bagan's hopes of reaching the inter-regional semi-finals in a row have been dealt a blow after their loss to Gokulam Kerala FC. A loss to Basundhara Kings on Saturday could mean that Juan Ferrando's ATK Mohun Bagan team could be out early.

Iran's Shahradari Sirjan defeated Gokulam Kerala FC 1-0 in the AFC Women's Club Championship in Aqaba, Jordan on Wednesday. In the 69th minute, Shahardari Sirjan's Afsaneh Chatrenoor scored the game-winning goal from a free kick. Gokulam Kerala goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan could not save this goal and Shahradari Sirjan won.

Shehardari Sirjan now has six points and is in the top spot even before their final match against Jordan's Amman SC takes place on Saturday, while Gokulam Kerala will be looking for their first point against Uzbekistan's FC Bunyodkor. Aditi Chauhan, Dalima Chhabra and Dangmei Grace are also members of the national team. The winners of the tournament will be decided in a round-robin format. However, Malabian team FC look to be returning home after playing their final game against Bunyodkur, who have zero points from two matches. Later this month, the national football team will prepare for matches against Brazil, Chile and Venezuela.
