Varanasi: The Customs Department has recovered gold worth Rs 24 lakh 71 thousand from two passengers on Saturday at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi. Both the passengers have been arrested. At the same Varanasi airport on Saturday, gold was recovered from two passengers who arrived in Varanasi from Bangkok from IndiGo plane 6E 98 during a custom check. The price of gold is said to be 24 lakh 71 thousand rupees.

According to the information received, during the investigation at the airport, the authorities suspected the two passengers through the way of walking, after which both those passengers were questioned after further investigation. After questioning and investigation, the officers became convinced that the passengers were carrying gold in their genitals. After that, the customs officials went to a hospital with both the passengers, where gold was recovered from their private parts. Officials said 636.73 grams of 24-carat gold was recovered from both the passengers. Its estimated price is 24 lakh 71 thousand rupees.
