The impact of the major fall in gold prices in the global market was also seen on the Indian futures market on Thursday and the price of gold fell to a nearly one-year low. Silver is also showing a decline of more than Rs 400 today. The futures price of 24-carat purity gold on the Multimodality Exchange (MCX) fell by Rs 250 to Rs 49,958 per 10 grams this morning. Earlier, trading in gold had openly started at the level of 50,000, but futures prices fell below 50,000 soon due to softening of demand and a fall in the global market. Gold is currently trading at a fall of about 0.5 per cent from its previous close.

On the lines of the same gold, today the futures prices of silver are also showing a big fall. Silver futures on MCX fell 480 rupees, to 55,130 rupees in the morning. Earlier, silver had opened at the level of Rs 55,450, but soon the global market started showing pressure. Silver is currently trading 0.88 per cent lower than its previous close.
