Due to the nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus, the cancellation of professional golf tour (PGTI) tournaments and the closure of the golf course has created a livelihood crisis in front of hundreds of working cades. Sports tournaments around the world have either been canceled or postponed from Kovid-19, including golf. There are around 2500 to 3000 caddies living in the Delhi National Capital Region, mostly migrants. There are many regular caddies and many work part time.

Mantu, a two-time Asian Tour winner, Rashid Khan and 2015 Junior World Golf Champion Shubham Jaglan's caddy, said, "In our country, only 5 per cent of the caddy earns Rs 20-25 thousand a month, but the condition of everyone else is bad. Only about 50-60 caddies travel regularly with top golfers and some get their salaries but others work on a daily basis. Another caddies say that caddies earn 500-600 rupees a day by working with a golfer, but now there is no work.

Golf courses are closed but many clubs have come forward to help. If the Bombay Presidency is giving them ration, Bangalore Golf Club is giving 300 rupees daily to every caddy. Noida Golf Club has given them 2000 rupees while Patna Golf Club is giving 1000 rupees in addition to food items. Delhi Golf Club has decided to give five thousand rupees to the caddies and every member is depositing 500 rupees in a fund.
