Mumbai: The Maharashtra government, which is a coalition of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress, is going to give a big relief to the people of its state. The Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition government led by CM Uddhav Thackeray has decided to drastically cut VAT rates on CNG.

According to a piece of news received, on Saturday, the Maharashtra government has issued a notification to reduce the rate of Value Added Tax on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in the state. According to this, from April 1, instead of 13.5 per cent, only 3 per cent VAT will have to be paid on CNG in the state. The new rates of CNG will be applicable from April 1 and people will have to pay lower prices for CNG.

Earlier this month, Maharashtra Finance Minister Ajit Pawar had proposed to reduce the VAT rate in view of the Budget Session. Now, the Government has also issued a notification. This decision of the government will bring down Rs 800 crore annually to the exchequer. Pawar tweeted in Marathi on Saturday that the notification was issued. Cng prices are already lower than petrol and diesel. At the same time, they also give good mileage in the cars. In such a situation, the reduction in its price will benefit the drivers of the car as well as the auto-rickshaw drivers, taxi drivers and cab drivers.
