Google last month announced a ban on all call recording apps from the Play Store. The change in the Play Store policy has come into effect from today i.e. May 11. The phone that comes with the inbuilt call recording feature has not received any changes to be seen. The Cupertino-based tech giant against call recording apps and services for many years. This is because the company believes that recording calls violates users' privacy.
Third-party apps banned: Because of the same, the callrecording feature on Google's own dialer app was coming with a "This call is now being recorded" alert, clearly heard on both sides before the recording began. Google has clarified that the change is only going to affect third-party apps. Which means that call recording on Google Dialer is going to work even when it's about to appear on your device or area. It also makes it clear that any preloaded dialer app with call recording feature is going to work perfectly fine. Only apps with call recording feature available on the Google Play Store are going to be banned.
Truecaller removed the call recording feature: A day after Google announced a ban on call recording apps, Truecaller has also revealed the removal of the call recording feature from its platform. A spokesman for Truecaller said, "We are now unable to offer call recordings. It's not going to affect devices that have a call recording feature in the device."
These smartphones will be able to record calls: Truecaller has said that this will not have any impact on handsets that are also giving built-in call recordings. Some smartphone manufacturers, including Xiaomi, Samsung, OnePlus and Oppo, include a built-in call recorder capability that is set to continue to work beyond May 11.
