New Delhi [India], April 3 (NT): Google on Tuesday dedicated its eccentric and artistic doodle to celebrate the 115th birth anniversary of India's social reformer and freedom fighter Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay.
Chattopadhyay is not just memorized for her contribution in India's freedom movement but for also being the driving force behind the new beginning of Indian handicrafts, handlooms and theatre in independent India.
She further worked persistently for the betterment of the socio-economic standard of the Indian women by revolutionary the cooperative movement.
She is regarded as the creative thinker behind the famous New Delhi-situated theatre institute National School of Drama, Sangeet Natak Akademi, Central Cottage Industries Emporium, and the Crafts Council of India.
She is also the beneficiary of Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship. It is the highest honour conferred by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy of Music, Dance and drama.
Chattopadhyay has also authored a number of books which covered the worldwide dealings including Japan-its weakness and strength, Uncle Sam's empire and In war-torn China.
During World War II, she comprehensively visited the US and some other parts of the world, stressing up support for Indian independence and for colonialism to be put an end.
