Celebrating Venezuela's Independence Day, Google doodle honors the signing of the 1811 Venezuelan Declaration of Independence which is also known as Cinco de Julio. Today is Venezuela's Independence Day. The Declaration, housed in the nation's capital, Caracas, establishes Venezuela's sovereignty from Spain.

In recent years, it has also been observed as National Armed Forces Day (Da de la Fuerza Armada Nacional) to recognise the dedication of all active-duty personnel as well as veterans of Venezuela's National Bolivarian Armed Forces.

A TV broadcast that includes a speech from the president kicks off Independence Day. Following that, a military Independence Day parade is held in Caracas's centre.

The day is spent engaging in family activities, socialising with friends and family, and various outdoor and indoor pursuits. Every public office and school is closed, as well as certain private businesses with the exception of commercial companies. The National Assembly has a televised special session in the morning in honour of the holiday, during which the declaration is read aloud in public and the work of the members of the Constituent Congress of 1811, who made it possible, is remembered.

Many state capital cities also have holiday parades and celebrations, often with the state governor as the main guest.
