 Kaifi Azmi wrote the first song in 1951 for 'Bujdil Film' - 'Roote-Roote Badal Gayat Raat' and he wrote lyrics in many films including 'Kagaz Ke Phool', 'Haqiqat', Kasam of Hindustan ', Laughing wounds were 'Aakhri Khat' and Heer Ranjha 'Schmile'.

Let us tell you that the year 1975 Kaifi Azmi was awarded Sahitya Akademi Award and Soviet Land Nehru Award on Awara Sijde and the year 1970 won the Best National Film Award for seven Hindustani Film. Thereafter, he received the Best Dialogue Filmfare Award for the 1975 Hot Hawa film and was due to have a heart attack on 10 May 2002 in Mumbai.
