News of some malware app of the Google Play Store coming out. While 38 malware apps were identified a few days ago on the Play-Store, now 17 such apps have been identified that belong to the Trojan family named HiddenAds. This information has been given by cyber security firm Avast. All these apps are part of a larger campaign of HiddenAds. Initially these apps hunted Indian users and after that users of South Asia were on the trail of these apps. Avast's report stated that these apps were intended as game apps on the Play-Store, but were actually designed for intrusive advertising.
These apps used to show advertisements to people and used to steal personal information present in the phone under its guise. Apps also kept a close watch on the search done through the browser. The great feature of these Trojans is that when they make a device their victim, their icon disappears from their device. People do not even think that there is such an app in their phone. Avast actually informed Google about 47 such apps which belonged to the HiddenAds group of the Trojan family. After getting the report, Google removed 30 apps from the Play-Store but the other 17 apps survived.
Researchers say that as soon as a user downloads these apps, the timer starts in the app, after which the user was able to play the game for that limited time. The icon of the app used to disappear in the phone after the timer ran out. These apps started showing ads after the icon disappeared. All these apps have been downloaded more than 15 million times. Some of their names are Skate Board - New, Find Hidden Differences, Spot Hidden Differences, Tony Shoot - NEW and Stacking Guys. It is important that you do not blindly download the game app from the play store.
