USA: When faced with questions from a medical exam, Google's health-focused AI, known as Med-PaLM 2, performed at the level of a "expert" doctor. It was able to obtain 85%.

The business is currently utilising its AI expertise to enhance tuberculosis screening, cancer detection and treatment, and maternal care. The company recently held its annual health event, The Check Up, where it unveiled its upcoming healthcare-related developments.

The business created Med-PaLM, a version of PaLM (Pathways Language Model) created for the medical industry, last year. First to achieve a "passing score" (more than 60%) on questions similar to those used for U.S. medical licencing was Med-PaLM.

The most recent version, Med-PaLM 2, is said to have outperformed all comparable AI models, showing an 18% improvement from Med-prior PaLM's performance.

In terms of additional potential medical uses, Google's AI models could decipher ultrasound images to calculate the gestational age of expectant mothers. For this, the business has partnered with the nonprofit Jacaranda Health, which is based in Kenya.

This decision could have significant repercussions, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, where maternal mortality is still high as a result of a lack of personnel qualified to operate the traditional, expensive ultrasound machinery.

Google and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH) in Taiwan have worked together to develop AI-assisted ultrasound technology that can aid in the early detection of breast cancer. Despite being the most popular method of breast cancer screening, mammograms are not widely available due to their high cost. Additionally, the method hasn't worked for some populations, like those with higher breast densities.

Google is investigating how AI can help in the time-consuming process of planning for radiotherapy, which is a frequent cancer treatment, through its partnership with Mayo Clinic.

The business is also developing AI-driven tuberculosis screening technology. The business and its partners have made the decision to provide 100,000 no-cost AI-powered TB screenings in order to aid in the early diagnosis and management of the disease.

Additionally, the business has taken action to address mental health. It has partnered with ThroughLine, a New Zealand-based organisation that operates the world's largest verified network of crisis and mental health helplines. The number of crisis hotlines that Google displays when users conduct searches in additional languages will rise.

A few wellness-related features are included in the organization's most recent "March Pixel Feature Drop" software update. Now that Health Connect is integrated, you can store and share the information from your compatible health and fitness apps.
Additionally, Pixel Watch now includes a crash detection feature that can recognise when you've fallen and notify the appropriate authorities.
