New Delhi: A name is taken with great respect among those who surrendered their lives in the freedom struggle of India. That name is Gopal Krishna Gokhale. The great freedom fighter Gopalkrishna Gokhale was a skilled politician. He is also considered the political guru of Mahatma Gandhi. Gopalkrishna Gokhale was born on 9 May 1866 in a normal family. His father Krishnarao was a clerk.

Gopalkrishna Gokhale had stunned the British with his revolutionary ideas. Professor KK Singh says that Mahatma Gandhi got inspiration from Gokhale to fight for freedom through non-violence. With his inspiration, Mahatma Gandhi started a movement against apartheid in South Africa. Gopal Krishna Gokhale did a lot for Hindu-Muslim unity in India, then fought against casteism and untouchability.

He also inspired Muhammad Ali Jinnah a lot but later Jinnah went astray and was considered responsible for the fragmentation of India. Gokhale also founded the Ferguson College in Pune. Gopalkrishna Gokhale, who struggled for independence, died on February 19, 1915.
