Jakarta [Indonesia], August 28 (NT): Coach Pullela Gopichand stated, he is hopeful that Indian star shuttler PV Sindhu's silver medal will change into gold after the next game.

"Sindhu has done very well consistently to get to the finals. I hope we have a good match tomorrow," he added, "Sindhu is one of the peoples with power and speed who can pull this off," He was quoted by the leading news agency ANI.

 Worth mention here the 23-year-old Sindhu on Monday scripted history as she became the first Indian to advance in the final of the Women's Singles Event at the ongoing 18th edition of Asian Games.

In a hard clash, Sindhu thrashed her Japanese rival, Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 15-21, 21-10 in the semi-final match, which lasted one hour six minutes.

On the other hand, Saina Nehwal secured a bronze medal at the Asian Games 2018 on Monday in Badminton Women's Singles. She lost to Chinese Taipei player Tai Tzu Ying in the semi-final of the event.

India won a bronze medal at the Asian Games in badminton’s individual event after 36 years. In 1982, the renowned Syed Modi won an individual medal from Asiad. Overall India has won eight medals in badminton in Asian Games 2018 out of which six came in team events.

 Talking about India's total medal tally at the prominent tournament now stands at 41 including eight gold, thirteen silver and twenty bronze. (NT)
