Following the attack on the Gorakhnath temple earlier this month, the Uttar Pradesh Police and its agencies will conduct a security audit of all key temples and shrines in the state.

Three layers of security will be come up in all of these temples, with red, yellow, and green zones. The red zone, also known as the secure zone, will be outfitted with high-tech surveillance and security, followed by the yellow zone, also known as the semi-secure zone, and the green zone, also known as the public zone.

A senior police official stated, "Such a system is in place in Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Eidgah in Agra, and it will be strengthened." The CRPF is also assisting with the security of significant temples and shrines in Mathura and Ayodhya, while the security system of Gujarat's Akshardham temple is being researched for adoption in Varanasi.

Prashant Kumar, Additional Director General, Law and Order, said that security of significant temples and shrines is being reviewed and will be installed depending on threat perception and intelligence inputs.
