'Raahgir' wins four awards at Washington DC South Asian Film Festival

"Raahgir," directed by Goutam Ghose and starring Adil Hussain and Tillotama Shome, won four prizes at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival.

The film received honors for best feature film, best director for Ghose, best female actress for Shome, and best male actor for Hussain, according to the producers. "We are pleased to announce that team #Raahgir wins top prizes at DCSAFF - Washington DC South Asian Film Festival," reads a post on the film's official Facebook page. From August 28 to August 29, 2021, the festival, which promotes alternative and independent films from South Asia, took place. Shome also announced the news on Twitter, congratulating the entire team. Her tweet read ''Thank you @DCSAFF for honouring @raahgirthefilm. Deeply grateful. Congratulations to #GoutamGhose @_AdilHussain @itsamitagarwal and the whole team." 

The film "Raahgir" received two prizes at the renowned UK Asian Film Festival 2021 in June, with Ghose being awarded best director and Shome taking home the award for a best female performer. The film, according to Ghose, is about the people of rural India, tribal hamlets, their ambitions and conflicts, and how reality is perceived differently in urban and rural regions.
