Hydrabad: Mekapati Goutham Reddy, the Minister of Information Technology and Industries of Andhra Pradesh, died after a heart attack on Monday morning.

In an official statement issued today, doctors at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad stated, "Goutham Reddy, a State Minister, had a heart attack this morning. He was sent to Apollo Hospital right away. He was declared dead by the doctors on the scene."

Reddy was a member of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, representing the Nellore district's Atmakur assembly constituency. Reddy was born to Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and Manimanjari on December 31, 1976 at Brahmanapalli village, Marripadu mandal, Nellore district. He earned his master's degree in textiles from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. His wife Sri Keerthi, daughter Ananya Reddy, and son Arjun Reddy survived him. He also served as the President and CEO of KMC Industries.

He was first elected to the Atmakur Legislative Assembly in 2014, and then again in 2019. After the YSRCP came to power in Andhra Pradesh in 2019, he became a minister in Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's cabinet.
