New Delhi: The central government is going to take a big step in the field of renewable energy. The government has made a big announcement to promote renewable energy in the country in view of pollution from traditional energy sources. In this regard, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has asked the Central Public Enterprises to set up photovoltaic power projects. These projects will be connected to a 12,000 MW grid. The government aims to produce 1,75,000 MW of energy from renewable energy sources by 2022. For this, the government will have to install 30 thousand new megawatt capacity every year in the remaining time.

Earlier, rating agency Crisil had said in a report that the country may miss the target of renewable energy. Crisil had said in its report that at the recent pace, the government may lag 42 per cent of its target set for 2022. The move has been taken by the ministry following this Crisil report. The Ministry has also released CPSU Scheme Part-2 to attract public sector investment in renewable energy.

Through this, the government not only wants to meet the target of renewable energy capacity, but also wants to increase domestic solar equipment manufacturing capacity. Also, it is also a step towards investing hundred lakh crores on infrastructure projects in the next 5 years. Let us tell you that India is one of the countries where traditional sources like oil and coal are used extensively for power generation.
