During the coronavirus, large scale cyber-attacks were attempted. The banking sector in particular was targeted by hackers. Apart from finance, departments like Defense, Telecom and Railways were also targeted by hackers. Due to the increase in online transactions, there has been a lot of cyber attack of civil phishing and spamming. The central government agencies came to know about hackers. Due to this various cyber-attacks could be tracked in Indian cyberspace.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-in) organised 49 mock drills. In this action, 434 organizations of various ministries and regions were involved. The bank accounts of the individuals were saved from being emptied, on the other hand, important and sensitive information could be saved from going into the hands of hackers. According to the Minister of State for Technology and Information Technology, Sanjay Dhotre said that the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-In) has actively worked during the lockdown.

Various cyber attacks have been tracked in Indian cyberspace. Special protection is been given regarding the safe use of web conferencing software, securing mobile devices and applications, secure use of virtual private networks and work from home. Apart from this,  Advisory instructions were issued on various topics such as security measures for the health sector, online safety of children, various fishing attack campaigns from popular apps and services and managing business continuity safely due to corona pandemic.
