Dehradun: Within a week, the government has swung into action over the death of 20 pilgrims in Chardham and the disturbances in the journey. Health Secretary Radhika Jha reviewed the travel arrangements by holding a meeting with the departmental officers and the Collector, Police Captain and CMO of the districts related to Chardham. Due to this some tough decisions were also taken. At the same time, the department has issued health guidelines saying that the four Dhams are present in the high Himalayan region. It also causes health problems to the pilgrims. The government has directed the collectors to ensure wide publicity of health guidelines through the tourism department.

In the meeting on Tuesday, the Health Secretary instructed the collectors to regularly monitor and review the travel arrangements with the Chief Medical Officer. He said that all necessary arrangements have been made for the Chardham Yatra. Action will be taken against laxity in travel duty and absent doctors and other staff as per rules.

Keep these things in mind :-

* Go on travel only after health check-up, stay away from smoking and other intoxicants.
* The sick person should keep his doctor's consultation form, doctor's number and prescribed medicines with him.
* Very elderly and people suffering from corona in the past have been advised to postpone the journey for the time being.
* It would be appropriate to take a day's rest on the way before reaching the shrine.
* People suffering from heart, respiratory, diabetes, high blood pressure should take special care while going to high altitude areas.
* Immediately reach the nearest health center if you have symptoms like headache, dizziness, nervousness, rapid heartbeat, vomiting, blueness of the extremities and lips, feeling tired, short of breath, cough. Or contact on 108 helpline number for 104 and ambulance
* Keep drinking water while traveling and don't stay hungry, avoid exercising at high altitudes.
* Be sure to take rest in between due to hiking.
