Government directs local level restrictions on sudden rise in Omicron patients across the country

New Delhi: New and dangerous variants of corona virus Omicron are spreading rapidly across the country. By late night the number of omicron infected has crossed 340. So far, cases have been registered in 16 states. In the last 24 hours, 87 new cases of Omicron have been registered in 5 states. It has reported 33 cases from Tamil Nadu, 23 from Maharashtra, 14 from Telangana, 12 from Karnataka, 7 from Gujarat and 5 from Kerala.

So far, more than 340 cases of Omicron have been reported in the country. The government has also become cautious now seeing the growing transition of Omicron. That is why PM Narendra Modi held a review meeting on Thursday to prepare to prevent corona, especially Omicron infection.  The health ministry has since directed to increase vaccination in states. Especially where elections are due in the next few months. According to a statement issued by the Union Health Ministry, states and Union Territories have been instructed to remain alert and consider monitoring the positiveity rate, double the cases, monitoring the cluster of new cases as well as imposing restrictions at the local level in view of Christmas and New Year.

Reviewing the state's preparedness and immunization progress in fighting Corona and its new Omicron variants in a virtual manner, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has advised states not to hesitate and maintain their preparedness.
