Raipur: A video of Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singhdeo is going viral, in which he told the financial condition of the state and made the government proud. While sharing this video, the BJP accused the government of financial mismanagement and taunted Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel as 'Mr. Bantadhar'. In fact, in the video, Singhdeo can be heard saying that the government does not have an "Aukat" (position) to hike the allowances of the protesting employees as it has already given them Rs 40,000 crore.

On the other hand, Singhdeo expressed regret for the "mistake" in choosing the word and said that the BJP should cooperate with the Chhattisgarh government and ask the central government to release the outstanding amount to the state for the betterment of the people. More than 4 lakh employees and officers of the state government have been on an indefinite strike since August 22. They are demanding that they should also be given a 34 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA), a six per cent increase in the existing DA ratio and House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission. The state government on August 16 announced a 6 per cent hike in DA for government employees but later increased it to 28 per cent.

On Saturday, a delegation of protesting employees met Singhdeo at his residence in Ambikapur in Surguja district and submitted a memorandum of demands, an official at his office said. In the video that has gone viral, the employees can be heard speaking to the minister to increase the DA. To this, Singhdeo replied that since (the government) does not have money, how can the employees be given an additional hike?
