Kabul: An exiled government led by Amrullah Saleh has reportedly been formed to challenge the Taliban government, a terror group in Afghanistan. Saleh has become the acting President of this Government. He had so far joined the Northern Alliance in opening a front against the Taliban from the Panjsheer Valley.

Quoting a statement issued by the Afghan Embassy in Switzerland, media said the Amrullah Saleh-led exiled government is the only "legitimate government" in Afghanistan. Pointing to the Taliban, it said no other government can move a legitimate government. The statement said the government in exile has been formed after Ashraf Ghani left the country after a long consultation to challenge the Taliban. The government in exile will act under Saleh's leadership. He will take the Executive and the Judiciary along.

State that this statement does not mention any other member other than Amarullah Saleh. But, it is known that After the Taliban's occupation of Kabul, Amarullah Saleh had gone to Panjshir with some Afghan security forces and was fighting against the Taliban. A statement issued by political leaders of the Ashraf Ghani administration also said that all embassies and consulates of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan will continue to operate day-to-day operations.
