Guwahati: In a new initiative, the Assam government has decided to give 2 additional days leave to all government officials at the beginning of the New Year. This decision has been taken so that he can spend time with his parents or mother-in-law. It is said that this holiday will be given only to spend time with parents or take them for a walk.

According to reports, these additional leaves, which will be received on 6th and 7th January, will not be given for any other work other than spending time with the parents. Reacting to the decision, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "I would be very happy if all these officers spend good time with their parents at the beginning of the new year and seek their blessings so that they can work well for the state as well. ”

Earlier, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced on Independence Day that the government would give an additional leave to all its employees every year so that they could spend time with their elderly parents. In 2018, as the State Finance Minister in the Sarbananda Sonowalki government, Sarma had said that government employees were failing to look after their parents who depended on them. In such a case, 10 per cent of their salary will be directly transferred to their parents' accounts.
