The Maharashtra government took an initiative and launched a motorbike ambulance service to provide faster medical assistance to patients and also in the areas which are inaccessible.

This Two wheeler ambulance is a call away, when needed, you can call '108' i.e a free helpline. They will have teams of paramedics who will provide treatment, especially in places inaccessible to larger ambulances, to patients during the emergency.

According to the project named Pilot Project, 10 motorbike ambulances were launched at Marine Drive in south Mumbai by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray.

CMO tweeted, "Motorbike ambulances will be useful in Mumbai during peak hours of traffic and in Melghat like regions where 4 wheeler ambulance can't reach."

BVG Chairman H R Gaikwad said, "During the golden hour, when every single second
count, a lot of time is wasted in negotiating traffic and reaching to the patient. Therefore, immediate response will be a key feature of this service."
