According to Kailash Gahlot, the national capital's Transport Minister, over 45,000 persons in Delhi have acquired their learner driving licences through a faceless service that began in August 2021.

He also stated on Wednesday that since February, 92% of driving licence applications and 80% of other requests had been processed through the Delhi Transport Department's faceless service system.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Transport Department has extended the validity of papers such as vehicle fitness certificates, permits, driver's licences, and registration certificates till November 30. Documents that were due to expire between February 2020 and September 30, 2021 can now be renewed until November 30, 2021.

The Delhi government stated in a statement that associated departmental employees have been told to speed up the process of resolving technological difficulties, backlogs, and concerns connected to faceless services.

Since the first phase of faceless service was launched in February this year, the Delhi government claims to have received 2,16,835 vehicle-related applications and 2,08,224 driving license-related applications.

92 percent of these applications were for a driver's licence, while 79.9% of other vehicle-related applications were accepted till September 27. On August 7, a trial of the e-learning driving licence facility began. Until September 28, a total of 57,755 applications had been received. More than 78 percent of those who applied for an e-learning licence obtained their learner's licence at home.

Delhi is one of India's first cities to provide an online learner licence service. This allows candidates to apply, take the exam, and receive their licence without having to go to a transportation department office.
