Kolkata: After Mumbai-Ahmedabad, the government has been engaged to operate bullet trains on 4 new routes. In this sequence, the Ministry of Railways is exploring the possibility of running bullet trains on the Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Kolkata, Mumbai-Chennai and Mumbai-Nagpur routes. The government has also started a feasibility study as a first step to run bullet trains on 4 big and very busy routes of the country.

Consulting agency has also been appointed for the feasibility study. Since the bullet train is a very expensive project, then the large capital investment is made and acceptance of the project depends on technical issues, financing, etc. In such a situation, the first step is finding land through a feasibility study that after the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, a bullet train can be operated on any other route in the country.
