New Delhi: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Friday alleged that the Narendra Modi-led Central government is weakening four pillars of democracy through espionage using Israeli spyware pegasus. Talking to the press in Delhi, Raut expressed surprise that the Central Government is not even paying heed to the Supreme Court's observation that the Pegasus case, if true, is a serious matter.

The Supreme Court had on Thursday said that the allegations of espionage in connection with pegasus if the report is correct are "of serious nature". At the same time, the Supreme Court questioned the petitioners who had requested an inquiry into the Israeli spyware case whether they had made any attempt to file a criminal complaint in this regard.

Raut further said, "Through Pegasus spyware, the Central Government is weakening the four pillars of democracy. The government is rejecting the opposition's demand for a debate on Pegasus. The Central Government does not want to discuss this issue and the farmers' movement." When questioned about the Maratha reservation issue, Raut said, "Unless the 50 percent limit on the reservation is relaxed, reservation cannot be restored to this community.''
