The Government of India is preparing to introduce a new transport policy. It is planned to be introduced within a month. Along with this, Union Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that in this new transport policy, the emphasis is being laid on innovation and reforms, and for this financial arrangements have also been made. The Union Minister also called for an emphasis on alternative fuels to protect the environment and reduce crude oil imports. He requested the State Transport Corporations to give priority to CNG, LNG, and Bio-fuel over traditional fuels. The same Gadkari said that conventional fuel-powered vehicles can be made viable by alternative fuels at a low cost.

He said that the diesel-powered bus can be converted into a CNG-powered bus at a cost of only three lakh rupees. It would be appropriate and convenient to use CNG in vehicles like school buses and LNG in long route vehicles. With this, cleanliness of the environment will also reduce the import of crude oil. During this, the Union Minister said that the use of LNG will help in maintaining the engine of buses better for a longer period of time. Further emphasizing the quality of vehicles, he requested the vehicle manufacturers to focus on quality rather than cost.

During this, Gadkari informed that work is going on on 22 Green Expressways, including the expressway to be built between Delhi and Mumbai at a cost of Rs one lakh crore. It is expected to be completed in three years. In this way, he said that with the implementation of the Fastag system, the revenue received daily has increased from Rs 68 crore to Rs 87 crore. Also, at the Assocham's MSME Excellence Award, Gadkari said that the MSME sector would have to increase its contribution to the country's growth by 50 percent in the next five years to give India's economy size of five trillion dollars. According to him, the share of the rural economy in the economy can reach Rs 1 lakh crore during the current financial year.
