New Delhi: The Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Center has been launching many new things since assuming power. The government will now give 'Sardar Patel National Integration Award' like Padma Awards. Modi government will give this award for promoting national unity and integrity. PM Modi announced the awarding institute at the annual meeting of DGP and IGP in Kevadia in December last year. Significantly, there is a huge statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Kevadia itself.

According to the Home Ministry notification, this honour will be given to strengthen and emphasize the values of united India and encourage those who promote unity and integrity. Without distinction of caste, occupation, position and gender, any person who will do excellent work in this direction will be entitled to the award. The award can also be given posthumously.

The names of the awardees will be published in the Gazette of the Government of India and a register related to it will also be kept at the behest of the President.
