Governor attacks CM Mamata Banerjee over letters written to government

Kolkata: Governor Jagdeep Dhankar has recently attacked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for writing a letter to the Center regarding the 'Ayushman Bharat' and 'PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi' schemes. Attacking, he said that the case has been busted. Mamata wrote a letter to the Center. In this letter, she said that if the money is paid through the state government, then she is ready to implement Ayushman Bharat and PM-Kisan schemes in the state.

Two letters written by the Chief Minister to the Union Health Minister and the Union Agriculture Minister went public. The governor told reporters at Raj Bhavan that 'Why is this demand being raised instead of direct access to the beneficiaries' money. During this time he also talked about Mamta's letter. He said that it has busted the matter and the Chief Minister's proposal will benefit non-genuine beneficiaries. Also during this time he also asked, 'Is this proposal to help corrupt people instead of genuine beneficiaries'. The Governor also asked, "After all these days why did you think of implementing this scheme? There are 70 lakh farmers in Bengal."

He further said that "Till now every farmer across the country has received an amount of Rs 12,000 in 6 instalments but only Bengal farmers are deprived of it". The governor accused the state government of corruption and also referred to the disturbances in the distribution of relief money.

CM Mamata has written a separate letter to Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on September 9, demanding that if the funds are used through the state government, then the Ayushman Bharat schemes will be implemented in Bengal.
