Bollywood actor Govinda has been open about his personal life and his love for his mother, Nirmala Devi. What many may not know is that Nirmala Devi was born into a Muslim family in Varanasi on June 7, 1927, as Nazim. She later converted to Hinduism after her marriage to film producer Arun Kumar Ohja in 1941 and changed her name to Nirmala Devi.

Nirmala Devi took sannyas (renunciate) after Govinda's birth and became a sadhvi (a female ascetic). She passed away on July 3, 1998, at the age of 81 in Mumbai. Govinda has often spoken about his mother's influence on his life and has credited her for his success. He has also mentioned that he used to drink the water used to wash his mother's feet as a sign of respect.

Govinda's wife, Sunita Ohja, has also spoken about Govinda's love for his mother, saying that he is a devoted son who still gets emotional thinking about his mother. Despite his busy schedule, Govinda would often visit his mother at her ashram and seek her blessings.

Govinda's film career took off in 1986 with the film 'Tan Badan', but it was 'Love 86' that brought him recognition. He went on to deliver several superhit films like 'Hatya', 'Swarg', 'Aag', 'Sajan Chale Sasural', 'Hero Number 1', 'Aadamkhor', 'Andolan', and 'Coolie Number 1'.

Govinda's relationship with his mother was special, and he still misses her dearly. He often visits her samadhi (memorial) and seeks her blessings before starting any new project."
